Robin Taylor is one of those artists that dares to take steps into fields that are not easy to walk. His Fusion/Rock/Prog/Cinematographic approach is a force to be reckoned, as he keeps delivering albums that have the unexpected, improbable quality of being experimental while kept accessible to most listeners.
Accompanied here by Karsten Vogel (of Burnin Red Ivanhoe and Secret Oyster fame), who does the Saxes and Bass Clarinets to great effect, delivering real melodic and jazzy pearls; and Rsamus Grosell on drums; Robin Taylor delivers yet another great album of acquired taste.
The Fusion between Jazz, Rock, Movie OST and Prog is done in a way that surprises the listener for its accessibility and level of enjoyement. But an attent listen shows that things are quite complex in terms of musical architecture. In fact, the great achievement here may well be the capacity to make challenging music to sound so fresh and easy listening.
The music may sometimes be close to Secret Oyster, while other times harvesting the crops of King Crimson jazzier moments. But the personal signature of the musicians involved do set the overall result into really original grounds.
This is highly recommended for fans of Fusion, especially those who like great playing, melodic and yet experimental Fusion
