My Love Lies Sleeping
A piece about the total faith and joy of being re-united with a deceased loved one. I particularly like the chorus harmony – simple and slightly haunting.

Hasn’t Got A Clue
This song is about the leaving home to begin a new life. The world keeps turning with no one but those directly involved being any the wiser.

Darlin’
This song is a Ballard, an uncomplicated love song. I like the simplicity of this song and the way the strings seem to work well along with a basic piano solo.

I Feel The Pain
One could be forgiven for thinking that this song is about a woman but it’s actually about taking pain-killers. The effect of the pain killers was disorientation, mood swings and the general buzz of a powerful analgesia.

For You
How do you get to be with your lover? Anyway you can! This is an idealistic song about travelling to visit a lover, spending romantic times together and then finally parting with a promise to return.

I Wanna’ Fly
A song that describes the anguish of being locked into an unfulfilling relationship and the desire to move on.

I’m Not Really Ill
This song was inspired by the Robbie Williams song, “Strong”. It describes the use of anti-depressants. The lyrics suggest that many people don’t acknowledge that depression is a very real illness despite there being no obvious physical symptoms.

Dancing
All that matters is dancing and dancing with a passion. Inspired after seeing a one-man-band on the streets of Inverness one grey, spring, day. The female dancer is looking for someone to dance with. Eventually, in the last verse, the onlooker and dancer come together in the style of a sexy rumba and then part forever.

Angelique
The story of this track starts and ends in a hotel bar. The Old Man is an ordinary bloke, who meets with Angelique in a hotel bar. She turns his life upside down and he lives to regret it. Finally, he gives up and starts a single life again. I acknowledge Mark Knopfler’s Romeo and Juliet as the prime inspiration for the structure of this track.

Stalker
The stalker likes to follow people and scare them. The stalker does not want an affair and probably couldn’t enjoy a full relationship with another. The stalker feels empowered by the ability to frighten people. Some of this stalker’s pleasure comes from the use of drugs to heighten the thrill.
