Tony Hernando was born and raised in Salamanca, Spain. His first contact with music took him directly to the “Superior Conservatory of Music” at Salamanca at the age of 9. It was here that Tony studied music theory, singing and classical guitar.

It was then Tony started playing the electric guitar learning from artists such as Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen. Tony then began teaching privately whilst also attending the ‘IMT’ school in Madrid. During this time he had the chance to learn fusion and jazz styles of guitar playing. After two years he then “went Hollywood” to study at the world-acclaimed ‘G.I.T. Musician’s Institute’ where he was taught by such greats as Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, Dan Gilbert and Paul Hanson.

On this time Tony comments, “When I was not attending the school, I used to spend most of my spare time in private lessons or seminars and clinics with some great musicians (Mike Stern, Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, Derek Sherinian, Tony Macalpine, Frank Gambale). However, mainly my experience was with Joey Tafolla. This I consider the most important step for my development as professional guitarist. I used to go to his place every weekend; the lessons were great yet pretty demanding and we became good friends”.

When Tony return to his native Spain he set about compiling all he had learned over the years and prepared himself for becoming a competitive musician, teacher and producer. Tony opened his own guitar school - “Music Center” - in his hometown and landed endorsement deals from Ibanez guitars and Diezel amps, Line 6 and Dean Markley strings. In addition Tony also writes guitar articles and columns for various music magazines.

In the year 2000 Tony released his first solo album entitled “High” and followed this up with a lot of clinic and seminar shows for Ibanez and Line 6.

Tony spent 2001 writing and recording his second album “The Shades Of Truth” which was released in 2002 by Lion Music. The album was recorded with Mike Terrana on drums (Ex Yngwie Malmsteen, Axel Rudi Pell), and Pepe Bao on bass. Also appearing were guest performances from keyboard virtuoso Vitalij Kuprij (Artension) and Andy Timmons.

More clinics and live performances with his own band and other parallel projects kept Tony busy during 2003, cumulating with the Guitar Fest tour with Andy Timmons and Freak Kitchen and a guest performance at the annual JemFest in London during October.

Tony´s 3rd solo album entitled “III”, is released in the begining of 2005 by Lion Music, and features Mike Terrana on drums again. An incredible step further in terms of composition and production, “III” is Tony´s definitive album.Soon is taking reviews as "best guitar album of the year". Official promo tour for "III" takes places in May 2005, with no other than Mike Terrana on the drums, recording and filming the shows for a live DVD which is set for release on Lion Music in August 2006.
