MOVING GELATINE PLATES is an early Seventies legendary French band, led by bass player Didier THIBAULT. Obviously influenced by SOFT MACHINE and Frank ZAPPA, this original and very fine Progressive rock outfit displays complex melodies and polished arrangements. It offers very elaborated themes full of breaks in rhythms and following surprising paths. The music develops by the association, superposition, blendings of the themes (More than four-hundred and fifty on the second album !), original sound combinations (Organ or bass as solo instruments, trumpet, saxophone, flute, drums, vocals...) and complex, over-built themes reminding of the best Progressive rock. The eponymous album has been recorded in 1972, followed by the great "The World Of Genius Hans" twelve months later. Both Musea reissues come with an extensive booklet with biography, photo and bonus tracks from MOVING, the following project from 1980. A piece of history !Thirty five years after its previous studio album, MOVING GELATINE PLATES is surprisingly back to life. Totally composed of unreleased material but definitely faithful to the original spirit, the well-named "Removing" (2006) finds its legitimate place within the discography of the band. The nine instrumental tracks (Among which three are sung in English, however.) renew this brilliant blend of Progressive rock (That of the Canterbury School) and jazz-rock fusion, that resulted in giving them the flattering nickname of "French SOFT MACHINE".
