The four guys from Jaworzno (Poland) actually started creating music together much earlier than in January 2006. We’ve decided not to mention any facts prior to that point. If anyone would be interested in getting to know them, we could dig into the band’s archives.
However the truly important period in band’s – working under the name labyrinth.pl at that point - history began in January 2006. Ironically, at the same time Bartek Bisaga – founding member and the bassist decided to part ways with the band. The three remaining members – guitarist Kuba Dębski, keyboardist Tomek Konopka and drummer Paweł Larysz started working on a promo record. The recording process took a few months and two songs were recorded – 911 and Lost In Infinity. Since the band did not find anyone to fill in for the bassist, Kuba Dębski recorded the bass parts. Happily, in March 2006 the band re-united with Bartek and he eventually recorded his parts. June 2006 marked the end of the promo album recording sessions. The band managed to publish nearly a hundred copies and send all of them to radio stations, magazines and music websites all over the world. By the end of summer vacations first reviews started to appear all over the web. The band was surprised with the critical acclaim the two-song promo received. "...powerful, not inferior to Planet X or LTE fusion with a cyber kick and jazz characteristic precision..." Tomek Kamiński, ArtRock.pl "...in my opinion labyrinth.pl is a promising band on the polish rock scene. A specific one because progrock and progmetal oriented..." Tobiasz "Anorak" Koprowski, ArtRock.pl "...tons of ideas, great harmony, odd times, unexpected twists‘n’turns and loads of other details that make listening to this music real fun..." Piotr "Kayron Quantor" Grugel, Taboo.art.pl "...filled with all he technicalities of a perfected progressive metal band; guitar solos, keyboard synth and complex rhythms, Labyrinth.pl shows promise, leading to anticipation for more material..." Tommy Hash, ytsejam.com "...this music TASTES GOOD. Stylistically it’s somewhat of metal fusion, placing not far from Liquid Tension Experiment, Tool or other, not so well known bands like Spaced Out, Karcius or Kopecky. Labyrinth.pl’s music is amazingly powerful and contains unbelievably powerful and sometimes Really majestic sound..." Artur Chachlowski, mlwz.pl / Metal Hammer The promo album itself was available for public download from the band’s website and it’s been downloaded almost three thousand times up to this point. The band encouraged by those reviews was literally forced by fans to record a full length studio album. The recording process started out in October 2006 and a month later Sonic Maze – the first single had its radio premiere – thanks to Artur Chachlowski’s radio show. By the end of March 2007 all parts were recorded and the band mixed and mastered the CD. All of this took place in band’s private studio in Jaworzno, Poland. 25th March marked a very important day for labyrinth.pl. It was on that very day that the band played a promotional concert that was filmed for an upcoming Animations Live DVD. That is also the date when officially Animations was founded. The band changed its name from labyrinth.pl. The DVD itself will probably be soon released in a official bootleg form. Animations’ self-titled debut album was released July 16th in Poland. Animations decided to self release the CD as none interesting label offer was proposed to the band. Maciek Zieliński – polish artist created the artwork for the CD. Nearly 70 minutes of great quality music. One of the best polish progmetal releases ever. The story goes on... Tracks
