SIX NORTH, the large modern Japanese band created around bassist Hidyuki SHIMA (Graduated from the famous Berklee College in the United States of America !), performs an explosive blend of jazz-rock fusion, Progressive rock and all other sorts of experiments. In the same track, all those different influences not only co-exist but also blend in a climax of invention allowed by a flawless technique. Adventurous without becoming tedious, "I’m Here In My Heart” (2000) proved to be impossible to classify in any category, the mark of a masterpiece. It could then please both the fans of adventurous fusion in the style of KING CRIMSON and THE MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, and the people who like the kind of sophistication that can be found with UK… Three years later, this band comes back with a renewed style and ambition. "Prayer" starts like an unknown album by HATFIELD AND THE NORTH, and shows flowing guitar parts and enchanting women’s vocals… Before a hellish laugh comes, suddenly breaks this ambience, and only leaves an electric climax worthy of Phil MILLER’s greatest compositions. It is not surprising, though, when we mention that the incredible Takumi SEINO (PRIORITY) is behind all of this ! Ten seconds later, the lyrical atmospheres of the beginning come back. No doubt about it, the Canterbury school is reborn in Japan ! Violinist Akihisa TSUBOY (KBB) is here invited to lay his delicate violin parts on "Everything Becomes Circle". A bonus: the long suite "Richard" sees the living legend David SINCLAIR (CARAVAN, MATCHING MOLE…) participate, and pay tribute to his famous cousin Richard SINCLAIR (HATFIELD AND THE NORTH, CAMEL…). No doubt about it, this is one of the best albums of 2003 !
