KOPECKY is a current American Progressive rock band. It’s also the family name of its three musicians: a guitarist (Joe), a bassist-keyboardist (William) and a drummer-percussionist (Paul). Together, those three brothers have created a music that is both highly technique and amazing. After two studio albums and an excellent live-recording, this line-up has become a leader in its style by issuing "Sunset Gun" (2003) on the Musea label. Here is pure furious energy concentrated and perfectly mastered through seven remarkable instrumental compositions. Prestigious influences are numerous: among others, we can find DREAM THEATER, RUSH and KING CRIMSON for the most famous, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, ATTENTION DEFICIT and GORDIAN KNOT for the new generation. Actually, those last three should certainly be worried, given that our prodigious power-trio seems to have found a way to blend the best of each of them… The fans of electric trips, of powerful bass sounds and complex rhythms will be particularly pleased ! Without forgetting the fans of refined ambiences: for example, some interesting fretless bass parts as well as some sitar can be heard on the rightly named "The Divine Art Of Flying". This album could have been just another dry and artistically worthless attempt. However, the talent and inventiveness of KOPECKY created a masterpiece ! No need to resist, you won’t be able to live without it… While their eponymous album was issued in 1999 on the Italian label Mellow Records, its follow-up “Serpentine Kaleidoscope” was issued a year later on the British label Cyclops… Recorded on the 1st April 2000 (And not for April Fool’s Day!), "Orion – A Live Performance” was created during the Baltimore Progressive Rock Showcases series.
