Missa Mercuria is a progressive metal rock opera concept album, with a narrative that ties the story together written by Karin Forstner (the entire narrative takes 22 pages in the CD booklet). Concepts such as the destruction of earth ("Earth's Destruction"), and the participation of the four mythical gods in the reformation ("Devine Spark (Firegod)", "Whisper Of The Soul (Watergoddess)", "Mother Earth (Earthgoddess)", "Spirit Of Wisdom (Airgod)") are presented in metallic glory, as well as the eventual message (title track) and the five-part descent to Hades ("Journey To Hades"). A number of vocalists are featured as the various characters, and several guitarists contribute blazing axework to the opera, including Stephan Lill, Alfred Koffler and Alexander Beyrodt. The core band consists of bassist and producer Dennis Ward, drummer Andreas Lill and keyboardist Gunter Werno.
