The Band Visionary began in the early 90's with a group of musicians from the west side of Salt Lake City. All had been in several different rock bands at one time or another that had done well in the Utah area. We all had heard good things about each other's bands and were each searching for the right musicians to write music with, when the day came that we all met and the pieces fell into place.
From the first moment we began playing, there was a magic in the air. A chemistry that worked right away. Visionary spent the next few years writing and playing shows regionally. After much mayhem and madness, the band decided to start recording their first album. With the help of many good friends, we finished the recordings and started sending out demos. The band had the good fortune of crossing paths with nightmare records. With their help making the CD and teaching us the business, we were able to reach listeners world wide. The letters we received were the driving force behind the band. They gave us the desire to stay together and write a second album.
The band acquired the talents of a new drummer, bass player and keyboardist. After we settled in, we all decided to focus on the writing that could reach a wider audience and make use of the technology that was available. We all had computers but we mostly used them for games or graphics. We spent the next year experimenting with sound and learning the art & science of recording digitally. As the album was nearing completion, the studio was moved into the home of our then keyboardist. That proved to be a major bad decision and ultimately the largest setback we would face.
An increasing bitterness grew between the keyboardist and the other members. His ideas of how the music should be mixed, what he wanted to change or add, were different than what the rest of the band wanted. After a time, he decided to quit the band and refused to give the recordings or any copies of them back to the band. The final insult was to release his own altered version under a different name. Unfortunately, the legal system is next to useless for doing anything about it.
The band was faced with starting over. Though we had some pieces of the recordings here and there, most were second hand rough drafts.
This was a tough time for Visionary, personal lives and having to re-create something we had already done once, the band lost its rhythm section, swaying and deciding to join with the EVIL Keyboardist, believing his promises they agreed to support his new album, thinking that Visionary was now done.
but soon it became obvious that this man could just not be trusted. In an effort to make things right again, these same members, obtained key computer files with tracks of the album that were missing from the VISIONARY homeland. They came back to the founding members with these key album elements and began to build the album back with now only a few missing elements the band found the strength to finish conceiving their new melodic musical baby.
Through every challenge VISIONARY were finally able to finish what they had begun years earlier. This album represents our determination to give our fans our best, they deserve nothing less.
