This page is meant as a very brief overview to get you started. All manuals and applications can be downloaded from http://www.mindawn.com/download.php - The MARS application is only relevant if you wish to rip material to load on to Mindawn to make it available to the public.

Mindawn allows you to shop and download material with any web browser on any platform. If you want to preview songs or convert songs to play on a portable device such as an iPod, then you will need to download our player from our download page. Fundamentally you just create an account on our system at https://www.mindawn.com/register.php and then login, you can do this from our browser or from our player. Now you can shop and search for music and add it to your cart, or preview it. You can find music by categories or by using keywords. You can pay with a major credit card or with PayPal (www.paypal.com)

If you want to play music purchased on Mindawn on any device, then you will need to get the lossless FLAC versions of the files. These are raw audio that is compressed to save on size but without a loss in quality. To put a FLAC file on an iPod for example is a 2 step process. First you will load the music you wish to put on the iPod in the Mindawn player by using the 'Add Media Location' located in the lower left pane of the application and ctrl+click on the entries in the main pane that you wish to convert, then right click on them and a pop up dialog will appear. You can decompress to WAV or AIFF, they are fundamentally the same thing but AIFF is more Apple and iTunes centric, so if you're working with iTunes we recommend AIFF. Now you fire up iTunes and just load the recently converted AIFF files in to it and direct it to encode for your iPod, this will typically be an AAC file, but the iPod can also play these raw audio files, which if you haven't tried it you should, the quality difference is really amazing.
