Lisa LaRue
May, 2009 - Keyboardist Lisa LaRue is pleased to announce the formation of her project band, “Lisa LaRue Project 2K9.” Comprised of musicians from around the world, the music will be released as a virtual CD, allowing listeners to receive the tracks and read liner notes as the CD progresses.
Joining LaRue are Steve Adams, Jo De Boeck, Svetlan Raket, John Payne and several guest artists. Steve Adams is one-half of the prog group, ARZ, and an extremely versatile musician. Jo De Boeck is the lead vocalist for Belgium’s “Beyond the Labyrinth,” while Svetlan Raket is drummer for Swedish prog bands “The Par Lindh Project,” and “Timecode Alpha.” John Payne is the lead vocalist and bass player for “Asia featuring John Payne,” and “GPS.” The virtual album will be available initially as single releases. A limited edition CD with all tracks and complete artwork will be available for Christmas 2009. Award Winning Native American Musician Lisa LaRue to Release New Concept Album Muskogee, OK. October 20, 2008 - Award-winning Native American keyboardist Lisa LaRue (Cherokee), entitled "Transformation 2012" (Fingerwoven/Third Childhood Publishing) is set to be released on November 15. The concept and title is derived from the Mayan calendar, whose ending on December 12, 2012, which many believe to be a herald of the end of the world. The teachings of the Mayan elders, however, believe this event marks the dawn of a new age, and with it the need for increased wisdom, discernment and understanding. On the album is a single release entitled "Save Me," featuring vocalist John Payne (of the 80’s supergroup Asia featuring John Payne), and guest appearances by progressive electric violinist James Sudakow; keyboardist Tommy Zvoncheck (former Blue Oyster Cult); British experimental project Sinu Spiral, and cedar flutist Kerri Lake. Her debut CD, entitled "Beloved Tribal Women," was produced by Will Alexander (Keith Emerson, Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber, etc.). This was followed by "Children's Songs in the Cherokee Language," for which she received 2 NAMMY nominations (Native American Music Awards). Other projects were "That Ol' Sofkee Spoon", a collaboration with flutist/guitarist John 'Yafke' Timothy (Muskogee - Creek). and an appearance on the Progressive Rock Hall of Fame's compilation CD "Soundscape"(2008). She is the recipient of the Oklahoma Music Awards' "Native American Artist of the Year 2008" LaRue is also a nominee in the "Instrumental" category for the 2008 Hollywood Music Awards, which will take place November 20 at The Highlands in Hollywood, CA. A native of Oklahoma, LaRue grew up in Topeka, Kansas. She is a tribal member of the federally recognized United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma. Tracks
