Centric Jones came about as Chris Fournier finished up his Fonya project and began playing acoustic drums instead of using the programmed drums he had employed in his previous work. The album Phase Rotator Retard is the first Centric Jones album that came from this new approach and was released in 2002.
In 2006, Chris met Tobe London, a very talented local drummer. They decided to bring Centric Jones back to life together with the bass, keyboards, and guitars of Chris and the drumming of Tobe. The Centric Jones album Foreign Tea released in 2009 shows the fruits of this collaboration.
