It happens often that musicians from big jazz orchestras are looking for the intimacy of playing in small ensembles. Rolf von Nordenskjöld and Friedemann Matzeit were lucky of having had the opportunity to intensively work together for two years in the RIAS big band. It has been disbanded in 2003 because of the precarious financial situation and the politico-cultural incompetence of the Senate of Berlin.
