The son of two master musicians, Michael Harris was born into a musical world in the Ohio, U.S.A. heartland. Exposed to jazz influences by his father and classical music by his mother, he became serious about music when he took up the trumpet at age 11. Playing in the school band for three years, Michael's future was altered forever when he discovered the guitar. He became instantly obsessed, and in 6 months had formed his first band.
Michael got his first taste of musical success immediately following his high school graduation, performing with his new band Tyrant. Following several changes in lineup, Tyrant evolved as Arch Rival. With the release of two EPs and three full length CDs, Arch Rival gained massive commercial and critical success in Europe and Japan.
Around this time, Michael realized his dream of composing and recording a solo instrumental album, “Defense Mechanizms”, which was released with much critical acclaim in 1991. After a tour and live CD with the Chastain / Harris band, Michael relocated to Dallas, TX in 1994. Immediately following his move, Michael formed his heaviest band yet, Surgeon, once again to take the overseas metal markets by storm with their 1996 brutal debut, “Encyclopedia of the Insane”. Michael has continued to maintain a very successful solo career, which has now become his primary focus, and has released 4 more solo instrumental CDs worldwide…His new album “Words Collide” is Michael’s first all vocal solo album and the beginning of something completely new.
